Well, some might think that they are doing for show but then just think about it, if they really want to do for show, they could have donated a USD$10k which is already consider A LOT, why so much? It shows the sincerity and the passionate heart in helping the people in need. Both of them are popular enough, they really don't need to do this for show to gain popularity in the first place.
Just hope that more artist/fans will see their example and donate/help the people in Japan. Continue to keep them in prayers, there's so many uncertainties in the earthquake condition and the nuclear plant problem. Really hope everything will settle down soon so that more help could be rendered to the rebuilding of the cities affected.

On March 14th, KEYEAST announced to the public that Bae Yong-joon and Kim Hyun-joong donated money to Japan’s relief efforts. Yong-joon gave $890,000, while Hyun-joong graciously donated $71,000.
Yonsama urged the government to use his money to fund the basic necessities (including food and water). He is very concerned about the people. Hyun-joong admitted that his money wasn’t much, but he hopes his effort can aid the people in some way.
