*Note from Ode: To be growing in a greenhouse means something like the 'Strawberry Generation', of teens born in the early-1980s, to be always depending on others for their survival and knows nothing but stretch hands for money and food.

SS501 Kim Hyungjun has overcomed the past 1 year's ordeal period and has made his solo comeback recently. After undertaking an ordeal, he's now returned even more earnest - as a singer, and, as a person.

As he met up with the journalist recently, "I stepped into this singer industry since I was young and so most of the matters in daily life had to be settled by my manager, but soon I thought if I would become a person growing in the greenhouse, and I find that so scary... I came to my senses and bucked up", as Kim Hyungjun revealed.

"Not long ago I heard talks about some-some-some people not even able to make their own passports by themselves... At that time I heard about it, my heart ached. Most of my matters were settled at the company in fact, so at that time I heard, it dawned on me about the fact that I'm guilty for that", "I re-question myself about what kind of person am I. After realizing, I then completely came to my senses" (ie; dawned upon him and he realized), as he continued to further elaborate.

Not long ago, he started a character business with his younger brother Kim Kibum and achieved success in no time. To this Kim Hyungjun has a piece to say, "As far as I know and am able to do, that is, and people around me have been giving their acknowledgement on that as well. Things that I could do by myself - I now work hard to do it by myself. I dislike to become a person who grows in the greenhouse", as Hyungjun added.

SS501 members have since moved into different agencies respectively and group activities are temporarily stopped for the time being. But to Kim Hyungjun, this is actually a chance for him to be able to leap and sprint into a higher level as a singer and as a person. "My heart aches, but though tough, now that I have more responsibility with me on my shoulders, resolution and determination skills have also sharpened", as he reviewed looking back on his past 1 year.

Before he could get to relax further in the already stabilized reality as a part of SS501, the chance for him to stand alone came; and that is one gleam of light that he's been looking for. As he overcomes the ordeal in the process, his first solo album 'My Girl' was thus also released. It's a piece of work that was prepared with the thought "Do what I want" in mind.

"Rather than staying sad over it only, might as well do your best in the given situation. I worked hard for that and tried hard to show my bright profile. When people see my smiling face, I don't know if they'll exclaim like 'that lad seems to be doing better solo huh'. but even if it'll be for the goodwill of other members, I do think it's more preferred if I smile throughout instead".

He may be smiling all time, but Kim Hyungjun treats himself hard-headedly. As he talks about his ending piece of product, he says "it'll be great if people could take a look to my name characters - Kim.Hyung.Jun", as he made that modest statement. On a more extreme note, he divulged his personal wish, which is to break out of that title as 'an idol', and turn into 'an artiste' named Kim Hyung Jun.

[Interview 1][2011.03.25] Solo transformist Kim Hyungjun, "Having lesser fans than SS501 days, kinda sad"

Kim Hyungjun who's returned as a solo singer and not the maknae of group SS501 - we saw the more matured side of his this time. Has he broken out of the guardian shell by his brothers? In his eyes we saw eagerness. Whilst we listen to his gag-filled talks, we also see his beautiful smiles spread across his face - as usual. The moment he talks about music and his business, he turns into an ecstatic mode almost immediately. He may still be at a tender age, but having started social life early, his thoughts were as equally deep, and dreams equally big.

In releasing this first album under the name Kim Hyungjun, he has had put in alot of concern throughout the process. As soon as he talks about the album, his eyes shone and becomes playful like a child as if he discovered a new-found toy. Though he is naive and innocent like a child, that didn't seem to be bothersome at all.

"I like sophisticated kind of music, and I pursue after the pop genre of music, and I wanted to do that kind of music. At first, I actually didn't like a song like 'oH! aH!', but as I was recording for it, I began to grow really fond of it. It's really true that you gotta undergo the recording of a song first before the true feel of a song is felt. Even the sound of it is unique - the mystique and dreamy feel. The entire concept in this time's album is about sophistication and simplicity, and at the same time, pop-oriented and neat on the whole. It should only be filled with music that I fancy isn't it (laughs)".

As he described each song inclusive in the album, passion and seriousness was very evident in his eyes. His pride for each song that was produced meticulously by top craftsmen was stinging.

It used to be five members standing together on stage, but now, he needs to stand on the stage alone and fill the presence. Standing on that huge stage alone, filling the presence in front of many fans and adapting to fans' anticipation could bring huge burden for one, however, Kim Hyungjun dismissed that, "I've been thinking about whether or not this is the path that I should take, and after thinking, I realize that I actually like doing it alone", as he laughed it off simply.

"This is the first album under the name Kim Hyungjun so it's very much meaningful, and was produced with a lot of effort and concerns. It used to be five of us doing these, but now that I'm doing it alone, I do feel a little empty. I know it'd be tough and hard but right now, more than fear, I actually am getting anticipated about what I should do in the road ahead".

"This burden was huge in a way it can't be expressed in words. There were also many worries. But hmm could it be because I've been doing alot of personal activities already that, as I'm carrying out solo activities now, the burden was washed away very immediately. That's because I'm able to do the things I want to do in a little more relaxing manner. Now, even if I may think about whether this will be my path to walk or not, it actually seems good in doing it alone. It's really blissful right now. Our members are always watching over me and also rooted on for me by asking me not to tremble too much nor get nervous and strive for No.1".

Could it be because of his bright and positive personality that even with this burden caused, it seemed to have been dumped aside as though insignificant. To Kim Hyungjun, doing solo activities is more about feeling any possible tinge of sorriness and disappointment for his fans, rather than burden that he will feel.

"If I do activities alone, obviously there would be good sides to it too, right. When you sit in vans, there is enough space for yourself; and when I'm in the waiting lounge, I have plenty of time to do thinking on myself. I get to realize what is it that I need to show to people, and this could seemingly allow me to appeal to people. However, I don't personally feel the same amount of huge love received like last time. There were people who have liked me since last time, and also some other people who likes the other members, too. To be honest, my heart feels less full as compared to when the five of us were together back then. I feel a little sadness for that".

Kim Hyungjun did not just talk about how he feels sad and disappointed that he does not feel the same, equal amount of love received as before. Instead, he's a very caring and concerning man who knows how to first tend to fans' feelings wherein they feel sad about not being able to see SS501 on a same stage together for the moment.

It'd be great for us to keep anticipating on what this bright, cheerful and extremely positive man with deep consideration for others would have in store for us on the road ahead of him.

[Interview 2][2011.03.25] Kim Hyungjun, "I want to shoot a movie like 'Rough Cuts' with Hyunjoong hyung"

"SS501, an existence who must go on with him for life; and the generating force in bringing him to where he is now".

Kim Hyungjun is no longer the maknae of group SS501. He is like a veteran singer who's had already debuted for 7 years, and though alone, he's more forthright than nervous. Even his pride was immense. It should be for the fact that he's already very much trained and of course, confidence from within.

Kim Hyungjun could be said to be an extremely cheerful and jovial person. In each moment of the interview conducted, he flashes his beautiful, bright smile to us, and accompanied by that light-hearted voice of his. Though he is always smiling and laughing like a kid, he still possesses that resolution and firmness on matters he needs to do - he treads on his path in a very right manner that should be. There may be an assuring amount of burden on doing activities alone, but Kim Hyungjun does not tie himself to this burden. Instead, he stands firm and self-guards with his curiosity and confidence. Could it be the reason why we actually don't feel the lack of presence of his other SS501 members during his solo stages?

To Kim Hyungjun, SS501 is?

"To me, SS501 is an existence who must go on with me for life; and the generating force in bringing me to where I am now", as he replies us in a manner as though we're asking an obvious.

"Our members gave me alot of support and encouragement. They told me that I must get No.1 (laughs). They're always watching over me, so they told me not to panic on stage while performing, so that gave me real strength". We watch him go back to his status of SS501's maknae as he pulls that cheeky expression across his face the moment he starts talking about SS501, which is a contrast to his serious profile whenever he talks about himself.

As soon as we suggested that he probably can't meet up often with his members due to each's busy schedule, he started to shake his head as he disagrees with us. "We meet often and enjoy over sessions of drinking. However, I can't drink. The other members can tend to drink better... Hyunjoong hyung drinks very smoothly and falls drunk very quickly. And he doesn't wake up". As if he's looking at Kim Hyunjoong falling drunk in front of him right now, he pulls that awkward expression across his face mischievously.

"At this time, Youngsaeng hyung can turn to talk a lot, and also put on a lot of aegyo (cutesy). He imitates. 'Hyungjunie Hyungjunie why are you so pretty'...like that.. While for Jungmin, he just keeps jumping all over the place all the time... and then for Kyujong, his eyes are just closed".

In his eyes we see when he talks about his members are just but pure faith and adore. They who flaunt their solid and resolute friendship amongst one another. If so, won't we be able to see the day when SS501 stands on the same stage together again?

"Though we're all in different agencies for now, we had made a promise to do activities together no matter what condition it will take. If we can't even fulfil this, then I think we're really disloyal... Even if it may be a very short period, we promised to re-unite. Of course, because we're all in different agencies and so have different activities and schedules, it may be tough and hard, but once each of our personal activities come to its ending period, that's when SS501's album will be released. Either end of this year, or beginning of next year...".

It isn't only music that strikes in common for SS501. Including Kim Hyungjun, Kim Hyunjoong, Park Jungmin and Kim Kyujong have all tried their stand in acting. "Acting with Hyunjoong hyung? I hope that it'd be something like we two could never meet each other because of a fatal affinity... I want to shoot a movie like 'Rough Cuts'. I want to try the role like So Jisub-ssi's with that cool and handsome profile accompanied by an appealing voice".

Mankind Kim Hyungjun VS Singer Kim Hyungjun

In broadcast programmes, we see Kim Hyungjun to be a very bright and extremely friendly person. Even when he does it alone, he can fill the stage to its full, and speaks really well, too. However, the Mankind Kim Hyungjun is actually an introvert who likes to be alone.

"The Mankind Kim Hyungjun is a man who's timid, who has many thoughts, who does not talk a lot, and who has many worries for his future. Going to the Hangang River and gazing into the river, and or taking a breeze walk with the wind blowing its chill against my bones - I like doing those. And I take driving spins a lot too... On the other hand, celebrity Kim Hyungjun is instead, an extremely bright guy who loves the splendid, and also very positive-minded and who also smiles and laughs alot. One who can make people exclaim at the sight of him, 'Kim Hyungjun is really hardworking and really jovial!'", as we feel a sudden and amazing gush of energy across his face spread with a shy smile.

Though he sees himself as a rigid and stern person, the moment he talks about his family, his voice turned really warm. He said he hasn't found his role model, apart from his parents. However, he has actually been influenced with a significant amount by his mother. He looks almost exactly like his mother, too. On top of that, his love for co-habitant cum blood brother Kim Kibum was very much significant as well.

"Kibum is a multi-entertainer. He's got alot of interest for characters and so he was also the first one to initiate about plans to do a character business. He also does song producing well. Should there be a chance, it shouldn't be impossible to have our duet song together, and or an album".

"Kibum's withdrawal is a pity... But since this matter has passed already, I adviced him to just forget about it all and think hard about what he needs to do in future, and start facing the reality hard-headedly here onwards". Although Kim Hyungjun is still at a tender age, he gives these wise advices to Kibum as a skilled senior in the same industry who's already been through all these.

It's not just towards his younger brother. Girl group KARA, who's been his junior under a same agency for years, earns his unhesitated support too. "I believe that you all will be able to settle this smoothly by reaching an amiable compromise on both parties. Rather than hunting for any one's benefit, it would be great if you all could come to a compromise of deciding for a right path that would be suited for each of you".

24 years, the age in desiring to love

24 years old is the age of being all staid and spunky, it's the age where one desires to love and get into a romance with else. But for Kim Hyungjun, however, he wants to concentrate on his career as he delays and pushes back romance for the time being.

"I want to meet my girlfriend 3 years later when I've earned a lot of money. I like feminine girls. She can be conservative too, and she must be able to apply her ears to me well, and also able to aid me wisely. You know, just that kind of natural style of a woman. As for appearance-wise, I prefer if she would be simpler on the whole, rather than being all splendid and magnificent on the outlook. I really like Son Yejin-ssi and Son Taeyoung-ssi. The Son(s) seem to look really beautiful huh (laughs)". Now that's complicated. He seems to have already gotten married with his career.

He may said to want to focus on career for now and delays romance, but he does not detest shooting with females. In his latest album's music videos of 'oH! aH!' and 'Girl', he's danced to two pretty dancers named Oh Yeonseo and model Yang Yoon-young respectively, and that did cause bouts of discussion back then as well.

"(If there are scenes with the opposite gender) Last time, I wouldn't talk a lot with them and so we end up kinda shy when we shoot, but now, I've gotten a little more treacherous with that. I'll think if it's better to do it like-that-like-that, and then I'll discuss it with her, and in no time, we grow close. Because she will be the female lead in there, so that actually gave me encouragement rather than if I were to do it alone (laughs)".

"What I want to achieve most with this time's album is No.1", as Kim Hyungjun pours his desire for his career. Just like how he's challenging in each diversified field with a positive and straight-forward mindset, let's just keep anticipating on how he'll work his way towards No.1.

But it is different now. I have to bear all the responsibilities by myself. I feel more grown up. And I am gaining myself more confidence too."

There is also another fear. A fear that is experienced by anyone who transforms into solo artiste from group, that is the shrinking of fanbase.

This is something that Kim Hyung Jun himself agrees with and he also believes that it is something that must be overcome by himself.

"I have to overcome this process. Initially I have thoughts like did the fans lessen, did the fans who came to see me lessen, did the voices shouting for me lessen. But only after overcoming this, you can truly enjoy yourself while on the stage. Now I get to create something right from scratch."

Kim Hyung Jun thought it wasn't enough to concentrate on choreography, so he started working hard on vocal training again right from the beginning. Although he wasn't 100% satisfied, his new image brings surprises to all.

When being asked about his first stage broadcast, he revealed "I was really nervous. I made a lot of mistakes during rehearsal. I was never so shaken before. But I am a little stage conscious. Once I was on the stage, I could not feel the nervousness I felt before, but I felt a burst of joy."

Fans’ praises and encouragements are the main driving force behind Hyung Jun’s motivation. He who has now courageously stood forth as a solo singer aside from his group where he was the 'maknae'. He spoke with strength in his voice. And on his expressions showed liveliness. He said he was reminded of his debut back then as a newbie where they shone through. Even during SS501 days, he was already well-known for being the ambitious one. "The best part about this is that I could subdue the camera all by myself? Haha. Should I say that I now feel lighter too? Our inner self doesn't and can't follow after like your desire, so I guess that'll inflict internal pain, isn't it. I want to challenge anything that comes by my side randomly but I'm trying to control that desire. What should I do so that it'll be good? Deh?"

As if asking himself out of the blue, Kim Hyungjun enquired us about a path that could be better for him. Even without suggestions from people around him on what to do each day, he's still spending every day busily. Album [My girl] is a turning point for his solo activities. Beginning since last year, he's been perplexing over his stage and couldn't find an idea. He who wanted to then let known of his impactful starting-out with that as a powerful dance song. However, the direction to go towards at was going round in circles. It was eventually concluded that the foremost priority is to have a stage that is simple and yet comfortable to listen to, which is how you can expand your audiences range. But, it was suggested to me that the most necessary thing first & foremost would be to have a song with a popular melody. To have with me a song by the E-Tribe hyungs was a wise move, even when I think back about it now. I won't let that get at my head so soon. It's only the start right now".

Since he has had challenged the musical stage before, Kim Hyungjun also felt that this had helped in reducing his fear to carry out solo activities alone. Q: Kim HyungJun-ssi, long time didn't met, what have you been doing all this while?
A: Although don't have any album activities, but was performing for musical 'Cafe-In', and also working on the forming of the pro-gamer team. Not as a singer but using my time and chance to challenge other area. The challenge of being a musical actor is really interesting, and has very good experience, but because of the performance schedule and also personal practice, almost had very little time to rest. This mini album was also producing concurrently together with the musical performance.

Q: Not as SS501 Kim HyungJun but as solo singer Kim HyungJun releasing your 1st album, how is your feeling?
A: Until now, had been performing as SS501 group member, solo activities is certainly not an easy task. Responsible of everything alone, thinking of everything alone. Everything have to be done alone, seems like there must have all kinds of challenges in my life originally. However, the kind of excitement for starting (activity) alone and the nervousness of standing alone on stage co-existed in my heart, it was just like during the trainee period, the excitement and nervousness during the debut, 1st time stepping on stage, now this feeling is even deeper, this is my growth and drive force to move forward. Until today, I have been working diligently just like when I am in SS501, there are still a lot of fans giving me support during my solo activities, therefore will definitely show even better side to everybody in my solo activities! Hope to be together with everybody, then will definitely do well.

Q: Your New album is going to release. Please introduce.
A: Because it is my first solo album releasing using my name, so when producing this album, was very worried of the music direction. Until now, the styles and genre are different from other songs, had tried all types of style, had been worrying non-stop thinking of a unique style, until finally found E-tribe and Rado to produce the music together. Producing songs which I wanted and satisfied of and with a charming style.

Also, in this album, have put in a lot of effort in order to bring out my own personal image, showing my distinctive voice, in order to show even better masculine charm, has put in a lot of effort on the choreography, will have changes comparing with the previous style, please try to find out about it!

Q: Is there any special incident during the preparation of the album?
A: Em... special incident... First of all, now could only remember I have put in a lot of time to digest the album preparation. Musical OST recording, dance practices, vocal practices and etc. For this album sales, has even included filming schedule and fan meeting in Japan, doing everything simultaneously. Physically tired and weary but enjoyed everything. All these were the happy process when I am preparing for the album, will get more force like this, right? ^^

Q: How's your normal life? Do you have any free time?
A: There is nothing special, although the living pattern is different from others, normally will also work, from there took out some time to relax. When resting, most prefer to stay at home, is trying hard to spend time together with my family members which I treasured most.

Em.. Recently if it is something more special, has interest in making Plastic models. Once I have time will start to assemble, in a very short period concentrating in assembling. After completed, will feel very contented looking at the final model. Very great! In the future, during my free time, I will like to concentrate in learning to make music. Has been wanting to learn to compose all this while, in my next solo album, will want to have my personal composition, the real Kim HyungJun style song. Cool! Really very contented. Q: Not long ago held a fan meeting and showcase in Japan, how's the responses?
A: First, really very happy and thankful! It was a very enjoyable experience. Starting from fans who welcome me in the Japan Airport, and also fans who had been watching me on stage during the event, really thankful for you. Ah! The fan that left the deepest impression, although not feeling well, had been staying on till the end, until sending me off the event venue. Seeing their look, I am really touched. Could feel the heart and thoughts of the fans, and made a decision in my heart, "Must put in all effort to strive hard for Japan activities!"

Q: For the upcoming South Korea showcase, how do you feel?
A: Just like the meaning included in "Putting on the first button is most important", cannot determine a lot of thing during the start. So at certain level felt a little burden. Although will feel like this during SS501 debut, but now I am alone, putting on the first button of my life, so while exciting is also nervous. The most excited part is to be able to see my fans!! Because they are my friends which I have most wanted to see during this period. During this activities will still be together right? ^^ I think it is because of fans then there's me now.

Q: Will also make your 'solo debut' in Japan, please talk about your feelings and plans.
A: Last time during SS501 period had done a lot of activities in Japan. From now on, since it is my solo activities, whether will be able to fulfill the anticipation of the fans? When thinking about this will be nervous and a little fear. However, is full of anticipation of going back to Japan once again. Seen the fans during the 19th February showcase, had gained some courage. In Japan, via Avex, will have concurrent album sales and showcases during April, will also participate in TV activities and has plans for performances.

Q: Determination of future activities! What is Kim HyungJun's direction?
A: As long as won't hurt my health/body, will want to show more. First of all, will work hard to be a singer as a whole, and also just like challenging in the area of musical will want to try going into other direction. [Interview][2011.02.15] Star Interview – SS501 Kim KyuJong doubles as an actor, Learning to be an actor since last year... “See you on TV shortly”

Straight set of teeth, bright smile, and above all, a good-natured pair of eyes... SS501’s member Kim KyuJong is like a little prince. He did not lose his humbleness even when he is a star who receives the spotlights on himself on the stage. His mind as it is, is like hidden in one word, in one smile.

A member of SS501, Kim KyuJong took a step forward in order to become an actor. Even when he made his determination to become a singer cum ‘actor’, he said “The preparation time was short” “I still have much lackings” “Won’t do if I am impatient right?”, etc showing his thoughts without any pretense.

“I am shy to be standing in front of fans who are looking at me and cheering for me. Thank you for loving me who is still lacking in many ways. But I will not be shy in the future. Because I am planning to work hard consistently and make up to my lacking.”

Kim KyuJong, like what he said, has been focusing on acting lessons since last year. He does it ahead of time, and he sweats (works hard) to return to the beginning before he regrets. Different from showing the choreographed dance on stage, he occupies himself with practices - sometimes elaborated, sometimes relaxed - words and expressions that open his mind.

“I get this kind of thought when standing on the stage sometimes. What a sorry thing it is to be showing the song and dance which I learnt for a year to the fans for a period of 5 years. If I had put in the effort and sweat like now during that time, I would have shown an even better image.... With such a thought, even when it gets difficult these days, I am enjoying and I am happy.”

It’s a cliché. But coupled with a good expression on his face, the sincerity in his words can be seen. ‘Beginners’ mind’ ‘Mind of a rookie’ ‘With mind for learning’ these are the words which Kim KyuJong said towards learning acting. Among SS501 members, they joked about following leader Kim HyunJoong’s acting in dramas 'Boys Over Flowers' 'Mischievous Kiss', but it is not possible at the moment. Only when he experienced it himself that he knew how much the difference are depending on the venue and situation when acting. Recently, he learnt of how much Kim HyunJoong had put in when he had to engage in music production while acting at the same time.

Kim KyuJong felt happy when he sees for his members making sold-outs in each of their activities. Kim KyuJong left DSP Media, and joined B2M Entertainment with Heo YoungSaeng at the end of last year, an agency which Lee Hyori belongs to and its Representative Gil JongHwa who trained him before. Other members of SS501, Kim HyunJoong is a singer and actor, and Kim HyungJun becomes a singer and musical actor. Another member Park JungMin released his solo album recently and is going on promotional activities touring in Asia.

“We thought of releasing SS501’s album within this year, but we don’t know how it will go yet. All of us are so busy. YoungSaeng hyung and I have been advising each other so we met frequently. I often have calls with the other members and get news of each other. Seeing the other members working hard, I obtained the courage to be able to do well too.”

Kim KyuJong, just like his non-pretence thoughts are an indication of his appearance as an actor soon. Recently as a rookie actor, he didn’t mind to participate in actor auditions too. This is because he thinks that even though he is already good as a singer, but he is still at the beginner stage as an actor.

“I feel that acting is about using your own strength to fight with the camera. Above all, ensemble is also important. There are works undergoing discussion, and seems like it will be decided on soon. [All 5 members have not met up together, because there’s always 1 or 2 of them couldn’t make it. Because I’m in the same agency as Young Saeng, so we met up often. - Worrying about his solo activities

[Last time, I will rely on other members. Now that there’s no one to rely on, I will have to be responsible for everything. He's well-known for his unusually good relation with his fans.

To this, Park Jungmin explains, "It's a way to show my gratitude to my fans. Shall I put it as 'the country-citizen mindset' then?", as he tossed a nostril to that. "I don't think I'm the kind of celebrity who tends to every single fan out there. However I really work hard to show my gratitude to fans who like me as a sole individual".

Park Jungmin has now stood on his own feet where he leaves SS501 for just a moment. He found his way to the interview venue looking a little haggard as we wonder if he's just too tired from digesting all the busy schedules alone by himself. However, as usual, he tackles to the interviews with smiles whether or not the interview was 1.5 hours and even later.

To be honest, he looked a little unfamiliar. He found his way to the interview location without his members as he opened to the door and showing his very much different outlook and style from before; it wasn't the SS501's Park Jungmin like last time. He is now thinner with deeper and manlier eyes.

For the sake of his first solo album 'NOT ALONE', Park Jungmin has had shed 10kg of weight, "There is image transformation attached with this time, and because the song itself is a strong-themed one, I tried hard to train my body and of course dieted as well. I thought it'd be a good try for the sake of a better impact on my 're-challenge' for this time", as he revealed the reason to why he carried out dieting.

However, "I went to look at the DVDs when we were doing group activities back then, and I thought I looked like a huge bear jumping around everywhere; I then began to take on diet controlling where I only eat chicken breasts. I also worked out two times per day", "But these days, fans have been complaining highly that I should just really stop losing weight", as he tossed nostrils to that statement.

Last June when SS501 whose full time contract with DSP Media was up, did not sign on to a new contract with DSP Media. Members Hyunjoong, Jungmin, Hyungjun turned to stand on sole feet, while Youngsaeng and Kyujong moved to a new agency company as all of them began to shoulder troubles on their own as solo musicians. Without his 4 other intimate members, Park Jungmin has returned alone. As he poured his rythm of his heart, we listened to how he told about leaving the arms of SS501 to stand again alone on his own feet.

Our interview with Park Jungmin continued throughout without a pause. Two hours passed by in a huff with someone who was so affluent in speech. He was just like any other youth chattering on and on about his stories. If there wasn’t any time restrictions for interviews, it could have just been like pure comfort listening to someone pour about his personal stories. Though he returned alone, he did not look lonely at all. In fact, even more manly now. Park Jungmin who is a part of SS501 member has came forth for the first time with his solo mini-album titled [Not Alone] as if attempting to make it known officially that he has fought off the word named ‘Loneliness’. So how are his thoughts on stepping forth solo for the first time amidst his 6 years of experience in showbiz?

“The album name of ‘Not Alone’ simply means to want to contain the message of ‘We are all not alone. We are all One’. For my case, it also contains the meaning wherein although I stepped forth alone, I will forever be a member of SS501. If you listen to the entire album, you will be able to feel that this album contains only my personal attributes and not as a concept of SS501′s continuation of line. Without electronics or instruments, we tried our best to use bands and orchestras to animate the entire feel instead”.

In order for Park Jungmin to create only-his attributes, the part that he had put in most effort was in the ‘lyrics’. He wrote the lyrics with his imagination and personal experiences. Through the lyrics with a sentence by a sentence, a word by a word, Park Jungmin had obviously attempted to deliver his story there and then.

“When a singer sings on stage, the most important thing is to hold that sincere heart. For the fact that I decided to write the lyrics, it is for the sake of better expressing my feelings. Just like the songs ‘Do you know’ and ‘Every day is Christmas’ contained positive lyrics because I wrote them then with a serenic heart. Especially the song ‘Do you know’ – it was a song featuring the concept of a re-unite with the lover whom you already broke up with. I wrote the lyrics of this song in a puff upon hearing the melody of it a hundred times. It was in the feeling of a phone call conversation. There are also people who asked me if this song was written in view of feelings towards the members or not, but no it wasn’t hinting at any one, it’s just a story from my imagination (laughs)”.

SS501 may be his forever-roots, but still he wants to create his personal character image. For the sake of transforming into ‘the solo singer Park Jungmin’ and not as ‘SS501′s Park Jungmin’, he’s shed 12kg of weight. With his slimmed body, he’s managed to create a sharp image. Could it be for outlook transformation only? Still, you could see it as a form of stronger highlight of the feeling as ‘solo singer Park Jungmin’ who carries with him a rookie heart instead of that as ‘SS501′s Park Jungmin’.

“I went to watch past SS501 videos when I was preparing for my solo album, and I thought as I watched, ‘Ah this won’t do ne’. I didn’t know that I was so huge in size (laughs). When there were many of us, I couldn’t feel it clearly, but since I have to stand on stage alone now, I came to be worried about visuals wise. In order to slim down on my heavy body, I went on diets like diet treatments and exercising. I shed 12kg of weight, do I look different to you? (laughs)”.

Park Jungmin’s solo debut was full of bumps though. His album was originally scheduled to be released last November, but while he was in midst of preparing it, the North Korea’s Yeonpyeong-do incident occurred, to which his album had to be inevitably postponed. There was no choice but to lay down his hands on it because it was to emphatize with the country matter. However though, it turned out that 2 months of emptiness was incurred. If you think of it negatively, you might have thought that this entire matter could almost fail through already, but for him, he thought of it in a positive light and auto-tuned his mindset. He waited, and waited – his higher goals for the completion of his album.

“I felt sad that the release had to be postponed about close to two months. But if you think of it in the opposite manner, there was more time for me to prepare and so I felt glad. The Yeonpyeong-do incident wasn’t something to be happy nor laugh about, so I thought that it’d have been better as I emphatize with the country affair with the status of a citizen rather than to carry out my personal affairs. At that time I was in Japan holding my fanmeeting. Was studying a lot then as I was preparing for my acoustic band performance. With the incident, it turned out as a period for me to better mature with the name as a musician to carry out activities”.

While preparing for the album, the toughest part was to deal with SS501 related conjectures and unfounded rumors. Park Jungmin was dragged into the talk of town as “the cause for SS501′s dispersal all around the place”. Though that inflicted scars on Park Jungmin, he chose to shoulder all of these on his own. It wasn’t something to have in control about where scars turn out to be inflicted on his family members SS501. He who has that strong affection for his family members strugglingly revealed talks of SS501.

“It was all along five of us, and the toughest thing was when we had to be dispersed. All kinds of thoughts came onto mind, but I managed to tune my mindset. There are many others who are more unfortunate than I am. What is mine as compared to really unfortunate matters? That thought crept through me all time long, and no sooner than later, all bad thoughts disappeared. I just want to talk about pleasant matters of SS501″.

“We may all be in different agencies, but we made it a must to prioritize this one condition that we have to re-unite under the name of SS501″, as Park Jungmin delivered his affections. SS501 is not his rival, but instead his companions who will be walking with him for the whole of his life — as he clarified it.

“The five of us don’t see one another as rivals. All of us must succeed, and when so, that will be the most beautiful graphic is it not. All of us have good abilities, so we’re not exactly very hugely worried. All of us are working hard on our own. Results will be different with each of us as per how much sincere preparation we put in. It will be lovely if you could realize that ‘Ah so there’s a person called Park Jungmin’ through this time’s album. I wasn’t the person who shone to one’s eyes at first sight when I was in SS501, and I wasn’t superbly outstanding with my singing as well, but now I’m working hard for that, and I want to create good results”.

The title that Park Jungmin yearns for is a ‘All Rounded Entertainer’. Not just as a singer, but also as an MC and actor, and he dreams to hold results in many multi fields. He also met an agency that could accompany in his strides as they walk the same pace. He moved into the new agency CNR Media which would be his full-fledged partner. CNR Media collaborates alongside Taiwan’s Comic Ritz. While for his activities in Greater China region, he chose to sign on with Sony Music Asia. With these, he is now able to fly wider. Soon, he will be starring in a drama with Comic Ritz who produced Taiwan version of ‘Boys over Flowers’. Starting from May onwards, he will be leaving the country for Taiwan as he stays there and starts his path as an actor.

“I want to become a person who shows his various profiles as a singer, MC, actor, etc. Not only in Korea but also in China, Southeast Asia, European markets, I will work hard to show these people about a person called Park Jungmin. If I am to summarize my name, it would mean ‘a person who sings with his heart’, ‘a person who acts with his eyes’, and then when people recall me in future they would think of these descriptions. I will sprint only ahead bearing these in mind”.
