[Magazine Translation] HyunJoong @ Japanese Magazine Aera [March 2011]

Kim Hyun Joong, Leader of K-pop idol group, who already had a dream of becoming a singer inspired by Seo-Taiji at the second year of a prime school, talked about acting and emotions towards his fans.

He did not see neither Taiwan version nor Japanese one of Playful Kiss as he did not want to be influenced by them. The point of Playful Kiss is to see how cold BaekSeungJo will change. According to him, he tried to become SeungJo at EP 1 and 2, perfectly getting into the character from EP 3 and 4.

KHJ: Being a genius, he is always lonesome boy. He is so clumsy in love that he does not know how to express his emotion, and that is the key point of SeungJo. However, he gradually tries to express his feeling, and I hope that the audience can see this process. In order to act as genius, it was hard for me to understand and learn difficult words and expressions.

Q: It is important for him in acting is to completely become a character himself. What kind of efforts, does he do for that ?
KHJ: First of all, I analyze the characteristics of my role. In case of Beak SeunJo, I have to look smart and confident enough to be IQ200 genius. To the contrary, he knows that he feels awkward in front of the girl he loves. He tries to control his emotion within himself. With all these points in mind, I have to become SeunJo.

At the same time, thinking of an entire storyline of the drama, I decided how to act by each episode. While reading of the script, I thought about expressing SeunJo’s changes, “ Shall I express to this extent in this episode ? then further to this extent in the next episode ? “ and so on.

Q: In Korean drama, there is almost no drama that the script is ready before shooting …..
KHJ: That is right! You may not believe me, but sometimes, we received a script five or 10 minutes before the shooting. Still in the later part of the drama, I already got into the role, it was much easier to act. So, even I received the scenario at the last minutes, the phrases quickly entered in my memory.

Q: I had this interview in December. After continuously working without any rest, it was a pitty that he looked so tired. So, I asked him what he would like to do if he had free time.
KHJ: Well I would like to go to somewhere people does not recognize me , going to a hot spring, having a glass of beer, and so on. Also it will be nice for me to enjoy soccer.

Even this seems to be difficult for him. He would like to start this year from music activities, balancing actor/singer activities on half-half basis.

KHJ: The current challenge for me is to make a success in the first solo album. I would like to make it the best so that I can expect good reaction and reputation. During the production process, I decided the entire image of music video by myself, challenging in selection of the songs. In the next album, many of my own ideas are included.

Not only in Korea nor Japan, one of the most though things that we are afraid of is “ fear of losing love from all of you “. I know that if the popularity goes up once, then it will go down. However, I believe that if I try hard, the fans will not leave me, continuously giving their support to me. Therefore, I think that I will be able to keep my own positioning , if I continue to work hard.

Interviewer: Yes, you are right. No matter how much suffering you may have, you have to continue to run, that is the star !

YoungSaeng and KyuJong who sign their contract with their new company last year October, starting from last year end, held their fan meeting at Seoul, Hong Kong, Bangkok and other places, starting their solo activities, and will start selling their [YoungSaeng & KyuJong 1st Private DVD and Photo Book 'Summer and Love'] on 14 April in Japan. On 22 January, they held their DVD commemorative fan meeting in Shibuya CC Lemon Hall.

Starting the event with duet 'Because I am stupid, the fan meeting comprised of video clip broadcasting, talk time, answering of fans question and etc. In some video clips in the DVD showing in Mini drama format, there were scenes which YoungSaeng was humming 'All My Love' (Japan 2nd album main title song), while giving out yellow roses as present to fans. However it was entirely different in real live as compare to what had acted, YoungSaeng said while smiling. saying shyly: "This is not what I am good in'.

After singing 'I love you... I am sorry...' (OST for 'Will it snow on Christmas?'), YoungSaeng exposed, "The behind the scene of the DVD was very funny, because couldn't catch the sad feelings, had even sang till off tune, for the 1st time, had actually sweat because of singing ballad song.". The event venue immediately fill with loud laughters. Finally, YoungSaeng sang SS501 'Love Like This', his perfect voice made all audience lost their mind and mesmerized. YoungSaeng's fan service continue even after the event. After the fan meeting had completed, immediately followed by the pre-scheduled high five event.

YS: The concept of this album is... 'Heo YoungSaeng's transformation' (Laugh). Want to let everybody feel 'Wow~ so it is like this?" kind of thinking.

Q: What is the music style of the songs? When in the group, YoungSaeng can express the feelings of the song most, can we anticipate any self composed song?
YS: There's no song composed by myself... currently is still not very capable, will not challenge self composed song.

Q: What about dance song? In the fan meeting, the 'Love Like This' combining with dance was very charming.
YS: Saying about transforming, should be to challenge dance song?

Q: Currently is in the same company as Lee Hyori. If there is chance to release album together, what type of song do you wish to work together?
YS: Last time in concert, there's precedence of singing together. However, Lee Hyori noona direction is towards sexy dance, want to have that kind of matching dance, after other people listen, will feel like combine performance of Madonna and Justin Timberlake.

Q: Among SS501 song, which is the most satisfying song?
YS: Personally most like 'All My Love'. This is the 1st time SS501 challenge accapella, like its rhythm.

Q: Once of this days when SS501 group together again, wish to sing what type of song?
YS: At the time will wish to sing 'All My Love', Until now still have no chance to sing live...

Q:- What will you worry about other SS501 members? Or, do you worry about whether your solo activities will go smoothly?
YS: It is a lie if I say I am not worried. Hope everybody will go through everything smoothly. JungMin is the first to release his solo album, sincerely wished that he will successfully accomplished everything. Similarly, I will also continue to work hard for the success of my solo album.

In this DVD, YoungSaeng tried his acting skill for the first time. When asked about places of recommendation, he said: "The selling point is we challenge acting a short movie for the first time, and also the beautiful sceneries. Although was a little not familiar in acting, but hope everybody will enjoy it happily. Because of the role setup, therefore in actual fact acting is very hard." During the tour, both of them fall in love with a girl. KyuJong started to court the girl aggressively, while YoungSaeng just quietly love secretly, because YoungSaeng was not like this in the real life, therefore it was difficult to act. The followings are questions about acting and love.

Q: In future if taking up challenge in acting, wish to act in what kind of role?
YS: Role that fit my image. Rather than role that is heavy, more wish to try roles which is cheerful and relax.

Q: Currently is filming the 2nd part of the DVD, wish to include what kind of content?
YS: In the 2nd part, wish to film the look when acting in TV.

Q: This time, both of you are having performance together, what kind of person do you think KyuJong is?
YS: KyuJong is a person which is good in taking care of people and very passionate. But he is too into taking care of person. Sometimes will think whether he is really not ambitious and don't have desire.

Q: KyuJong revealed on stage: "YoungSaeng hyung is the type which is very aggressive during love relationship." While YoungSaeng's answer was: "Because I was not so understanding like KyuJong, so will choose to give way." Is it really like this in actual fact?
YS: Is not really very aggressive during love relationship. Just more well verse in giving love consultation. Everytime when consulting/guiding others, most agreed to what I say. Just that for my own love relationship it is nothing, but when consulting other I am very well verse, so everybody call me the Love Professor.

Q: Currently not into any love relationship?
YS: Currently have no intention to have girl friend. Wish to do well in my work.

Q: During the fan meeting, felt "really never know there are so many noona fans and ajumma fans", although don't speak much, but still won't the girls' heart, definitely is the Love Professor. "Really very popular among older fans. Younger fans will usually go to support in free performances, while older fans will always go to concert and buy more albums. I rely on these fans to maintain."
YS: Is there really a lot of noona fans and ajumma fans? People around me said my fans are young children~ Although not saying that there are not older fans, but think there's not many. (Smile)

Q: Then 'Love Professor', please talk about a girl that you meet recently or the thruth of love relationship.
YS: The truth that I recently discovered about girls? Why do you think I know about this? (Cry)

Q: Because during the broadcast you ever said: "Comparing to gentle man, ladies like bad boy more".
YS: Girls really like bad boy. Recently it is acted like this in drama. In drama 'Man in Cold City", the lead actress like the charming and cold man. (Smile)

Q: Really learn a lot. But why after fan meeting change the High five session to shake hand?
YS: Feel a little shy to high five with 1500 people. (Sweat) Fans should be happy to shake hand right...

Q: Saw you turning your arms in between, was not because of fatigue right?
YS: No. "Not because of very tired" but really very tired. (Everybody burst into laughter) you can go have a try.

Q: Other than Tokyo, have cook during other fan meeting. Next time when in Japan, what kind of dish will you make?
YS: I personally like ramen, so was thinking wether to make ramen.

Q: During the Hong Kong fan meeting you wore leopard stripe costume attractive everyone's attention. You personally like leopard costume right?
YS: That had created attention? Why I didn't know. (Sweat) Personally I don't prefer animal stripe patterned costume.

Q: Young Saeng love photography. If releasing your own photograph book, hope to include what kind of photo in it?
YS: I wish to combine the photographs taken during travelling to form a photobook. Then for each photo will write caption or diary, to share my feeling while looking at the item and also to convey my observation and thoughts. I wish to release this kind of photobook (collection).

Q: Using you as model for the photo book?
YS: I think for the photobook using myself as model, just need photographs in the album is enough.

Q: In twitter, has show your attention to Fcuz Lee U, how to you know him?
YS: We graduated from the same school. Know him since primary. About 2 years ago, met coincidentally when drinking... He is a very kind and good brother, after that become more close.

Q: Finally talk about YounSaeng in 3 yrs time. Wish to turn into what?
YS: Whether will become a top star during that time? Although felt a little shy but have this kind of thought.

KyuJong Part

KyuJong who went to various countries with YoungSaeng for their fan meeting tour, during the January Japan fan meeting, towards the question: "Just like in the story in the schedule to be released DVD, what will you do if both of you fall in love in the same girl?", KyuJong's answer is: "Will not say about my feelings and silently end it." When the mother fan who mentioned that both daughter-mother are his fans and passionately proposed: "Please marry my daughter who is still in secondary", KyuJong gave fans his polite answer which fans anticipated: "Age and love doesn't matter, firstly please work hard in studies, until your daughter become a great adult, hope to meet again."

As the special gift for fans, KyuJong specially perform magic which he is an expert. When going to Kangwondo with SS501 members, running and chasing in the seaside at night; Filming with members in America sea. Also to film a program, went to work in a restaurant call "House of the sea" at Chiba seaside. (Smile)

Q: What kind of person is YoungSaeng in KyuJong eyes?
Kyu: First impression is "Although looked charming but feel very cold". Even when being mistaken also won't talk. However once spending time more, turned into "This person is a really deep person" kind of thought. Although seldom talk, but towards person who first met will be more tactful and will be careful in speech, is a very cool person. After getting closer, discover that not only is a person who will bring lots of happiness but also a person that will think for others. YoungSaeng hyung who sing very well no matter when will always said "I don't sing well".... really very humble! Most charming when singing! (Smile)

Q: There's a movie clip showing you massaging YoungSaeng, you are good in massaging?
Kyu: Although don't know whether consider good, but like to massage for others. Always massage my parents and hyung which are closed to me! After completed, when heard them saying it is very comfortable, will feel very happy.

Q: If there's 2nd DVD, where and how do you want it to be filmed?
Kyu: How about acting as a singer? To me it is a very big present, my memories could also be portray in another style, will work even harder. After going through interview, failure, and getting a chance to participate in recording, finally debut..... while showing happiness smile, at the same time showing the image of becoming a great artist after few years.... if can film this kind of process, really wish to (smile)

Q: KyuJong is a person that will easily sweat, when filming in Philippines, have problem with make up melting very fast because of sweating, felt very tiring right. What about in daily life? For example, when hold on a girl hand and having the uneasiness of sweating.
Kyu: There are no incident of sweating and holding hands at the same time. However, when I am alone in the car and feel hot, really very uneasy. However, there's also a good side. In the suana, can sweat very fast!

Related to acting in the DVD, "When acting alone, will be more natural. When together with YoungSaeng hyung, will felt a little shy." It is just a matter of not enough experience and also the most worth watching point. Because too engross, will have opposite effect. For example, YoungSaeng mentioned about this kind of interesting thing. "In the DVD, there were scenes which both of us high five before playing seaside volley ball, KyuJong was to engross in the act and rushed fiercely at me, and hit the face. Really very painful. Get the OK for the scene because of that condition. If look at the DVD carefully, can see that actually I was very painful." Seems like he wanted to use this as his future actual acting activity. After few years time, after training, when able to perform naturally things that wish to perform, this DVD will become a treasure.

Q: In future, is there any role which you wish to act in? Like which movie and which role in a drama.
Kyu: Recently seen 'Petty Romance' by Lee Seon Kyun and Choi Kang Hee, really like Lee Seon Kyun's role. Also like to try 'The Chaser' and 'The Supernatural' kind of role in movie. Then, also want to try the role which Ha Jung Woo acted in 'My Dear Enemy'! When thinking really felt very greedy... haha, fighting!! (Smile)

Q: When filimg the DVD, do you have any thoughts of "I am not suitable to be an actor" kind of thought for a moment?
Kyu: "....fighting!"

Q: SS501 leader Kim HyunJoong has successfully perform his acting activity, (KyuJong) towards other members activities, are you worried?
Kyu: Of course will be worried. No matter what has been looking after each others over this long period. When see the member performing, will know whether is nervous, has what kind of problem (smile). However, they are very experience, definitely can do well. HyunJoong hyung's drama, JungMin's first album, and HyungJun's musical. YoungSaeng is preparing new album! Looking at everybody like this, will think that I do not want to loose out to the other members.

Q: Of all the SS501 songs, which is your favourite?
Kyu: For our song, most like songs which will convey a message. Because able to feel the pain which everybody expressed. 'Wings of the World', 'Confession', 'Sometime', 'Because I am stupid', 'Just one day' and 'Again' etc, also always listening currently. 'Sky' when listening will felt warmth in my heart and like it very much.

Q: During the fan meeting magic performance, used red roses, however when on stage fans has suggested to use orchid. If able to perform magic for all kinds of flower, most wish to be what flower?
Kyu: Yellow roses

Q: What other type of magic you are good in?
Kyu: There are still a few more perfected magic, if there's chance will show to everybody! Because learning magic during secondary time, so the ability has deteriote. (Cry)

Q: Will you be passive in love relationship? During fan meeting heard rumours of KyuJong is a shy person....
Kyu: Rather than saying is a person that is active in love relationship, might as well said is a person which is passive. But feel that recently have turned more positive. (Smile)

Q: What will you react if meet a person you like?
Kyu: When meeting a person I like, will first try to understand each other gradually

Q: Do you have any encounter of love in first sight?
Kyu: If such thing happen, will try to talk to her to know more about her. Not just limited to love relationship, when meeting new friends will also do this. If really think that "this is the person", will do like this and will do everything well! In love relationship and also with friend.

Q: In HyunJoong's 'We Got Married', have once match made with Wonder Girls YooBin. Was really shy during that time and left a deep impression to others. Do you still keep in contact now?
Kyu: After that has no chance to meet again, also has not keep in contact. Because was very busy, after filming had not meet again.

Q: KyuJong always said "My ideal type is Oh SeJung'...
Kyu: "My ideal type is Oh SeJung', until now has not change. Like gentle, exceptional, and a little bit blur type of girl

Q: You are from JeonJu right, do you go back very often?
Kyu: Always go back to hometown. When feeling very lonely in Seoul, will cancel all plans and go home, meeting with friends in my hometown, go back to my parents home. Only at that moment, will have the normal (Kim KyuJong in human world) live. Can don't think of anything, say anything. (Everytime also) at the moment when reaching home town, felt very excited, but will not stay for very long. Because if stay for very long, will not want to go back (Seoul), so will try to go back early.

Q: Talk about your solo activity in future.
Kyu: Firstly wish to learn a lot of things. Because feeling that from the start until now, has been running forward, now wanted to rest for a while. Listening to a lot of music which haven't listen before, watch a lot of movie which haven't watched, while learning and practicing acting skill and preparing for album. Working hard towards the goal of when other heard of Kim KyuJong will said "He is really very good".

Q: Finally, what is your dreams in future?
Kyu: Music producer. Music is a friend that bring me until here, is a friend that make me cry and laugh. Although still have a lot of things that are not matured enough and is still learning, but from now on will definitely want to live together with music.

KyuJong ended the interview with his signature "Written by J.Dream". J.Dream is his pen name which he used when composing. And also left a message with a deep meaning -- "Although has schedule to focus this year main activity on acting, but music is root." With a goal as a producer, in order to show more ability chosen the route as an actor. This is definitely not a decision based on easy choice.

Looking from his outlook, he looks like an “urban style man” who is at a fancy café terrace drinking espresso and at the same time managing his schedule on his smart phone. But in actual fact, he is far from the image that we had imagined to be, he doesn’t enjoy using not just the smart phone but as well as the internet too. He is the “Analog man” who you meet once in a while at the soccer field asking “How are you doing?” more than sending mails via the mobile.

His “cool” talk about Korean drama 「Playful Kiss」

- From TV version to YouTube version, it’s quite a long time spent for one drama.
When one of the works such as albums and dramas etc has finished, I would think that another one more of my works has increased which in future I could show to my children and boast about it. This drama 「Playful Kiss」 is one of such works.

- For the filming of the YouTube version, was there any special experience that you had…
Comparing to the broadcast on TV, there isn’t really much restriction to the “exposure of brand names”. During the broadcast on TV, as there are restrictions in regards to the exposure of brand names, there were many times we almost laughed out as we were trying to hide the brand names. Needless to say we have to also take note of the restriction in the midst of the dialogues and scenes…. So for the YouTube special version, we are free from all these restrictions and as we were able to act freely, which is very good as more possibilities are widened.

- This piece of work is your first drama as the leading actor alone, do you feel attached, regrets about it?
For this work, I can feel how much responsibility there is alone as the leading actor.

- Unfortunately the viewership did not increase, in regards to this what do you think about it?
Frankly speaking, I wasn’t worried about it. If I were to worry about the viewer ratings, surely from the beginning I would have choose a blockbuster drama. I have no regrets at all as I acted the character that I wanted to act as and I have work hard for it.

- how was the reactions around?
The people around are more worried about the ratings than I do. So on the contrary I encouraged and said, “As I have expected that it would be low, later it will go up”… (laughs)

- In the drama, with heroine Jung So Min having a sweet love story, is the style of love of Baek Seung Jo the same as Hyun Joong??
Totally different. Because I do not want to love like he did (laughs). He looks slightly unfriendly but in fact he is caring type of guy. While I’m acting as him, there are times when I could not agree with his style of love. I feel that if you like, you should express it out.

- while acting, in fact do you feel that you want to fall in love too?
In fact I haven’t really thought about it. Actually, I don’t really have the time for it…. The first thing that I could think of is “I want to sleep even for a minute more!” (laughs). This is how tight the filming schedule was. How can I be so carefree and think of “I want to be in love!” (laughs)?

- Following after 「Boys Over Flowers」, this time the story is also revolves around the school, other than the original story is adapted from manga, is there any other similarity?
Overall the lines seemed unnatural…(laughs). Yoon Ji Hoo and Baek Seung Jo’s lines and the way I talk, the words I used are a big difference. Well it can’t be helped since it’s a campus story.

- Have you thought about your next work or character?
I would like to try acting in action dramas or pure love story drama. As I have already acted as a romantic, kind character, I would like to try acting a bad character.


Analog boy, a glance at Kim Hyun Joong’s daily life

- when you are not working, what do you do?
Definitely soccer! Even during the time filming 「Playful Kiss」, no matter how little time I have to sleep, I will definitely join in to play soccer. The members are made up from junior high school and high school students to elderly people. I’m always playing with my trainer and dancers.

- Heard that you have excellent reflexes. Which position are you at?
Position doesn’t really matters in normal soccer team in the region (laughs). When I don’t have the strength, I will be at the back, it depends on the condition I am on that day and if it’s good I will attack. The position changed in according to the condition of the body at that time.

- Though there are a lot of artistes who are hooked onto smart phones and twitter, Hyun Joong didn’t join in?
I hardly play games or use the internet. Usually I will check my mails, look at my news articles, visiting my fan café and leaving message…, 30minutes would be enough. I also don’t use a smart phone as I have no interest in it.

- do you often keep in contact with TVXQ’s Jae Joong and Yoo Chun?
「Playful Kiss」 which I have acted in and Yoo Chun’s 「SungKyunKwan Scandal」 ended at the same time. Though it was decided to gather together but JYJ overseas activities had started so we could not carried out what we had promised…. I think when things have been settled, we would go have a drink together.

- It was said that you had a rival relationship with Yoo Chun. Even on the popularity polls, both of you were always fighting over the 1st and 2nd place….
Both of us have a lot in common, debuting from idol groups, started out our acting activities at around the same time. So we were being said as rivals. In such point of view, I think we are sort of rivals but in actual fact, we are really good friends.


Kim Hyun Joong’s roots, SS501

- music and acting, which do you greed for?
Which ever it is, it is hard to choose, to me both of them are important. Currently preparing the album to target it for May next year. There are a lot of things that I would like to try out next year. I would also like to have Asia Fan Meeting and World Fan Meeting.

- a lot of fans are worried about the future of SS501…
We have spent a few years being together almost everyday. We do not contact each other everyday like lovers do but we do tell about our status. As each members are in their new management company, we talk about things like each of our working life doing what kind of work.

- are you in good terms with the members?
There isn’t any reason to become bad. Recently I had been mailing Kyu Jong and Young Saeng. For this year’s Christmas, I planned to spend it with Young Saeng and a few other friends.

- when will we be able to see activities as SS501?
I will not be able to say when. It seems to look like it’s difficult to gather 5 of us to work but actually it’s simple. What is clear is that the 5 of us will gather together at any time for the fans. However I’m not making irresponsible comments for just wanting the fans to wait for us. I think that for now is the period for us to grow which is necessary for each of us. In due time, I want to hold a concert for all the fans.

- what kind of concert would it be?
It will not be a profit earning concert. For the sake of fans that have waited for us, I want to have a concert where tickets will be cheaper and all the profits will be donated. But of course, this will have to be approved by each of our management companies else it will not be possible…. I would want to do that.

- separated from the group and experienced having solo activities, surely you have realized the importance of the members?
During the time having activities as a group, the missing part of each can be filled up by other members but it is not possible when being alone. So I will have to work 5 times harder.


“Little Yong-sama” Kim Hyun Joong’s Challenge


- since when the nickname “Little Yong-sama” was attached to the front of Hyun Joong’s name. Do you feel any pressure about it?
Whether or not, I must accept this challenge. Because Bae Yong Joon sunbae, I have became a little famous, I’m very thankful.

- you have participated in the event at Tokyo Dome on 14th December right.
As this event was held with a wonderful purpose, a lot of preparations were done. Especially on singing and also the stage performance….

- Among the overseas fans, is there any particular fans that left an impression?
I received letters written in Korean from a lot of overseas fans and a lot of them wrote very interesting things…(laughs). There is this particular Japanese fan. In the letter she wrote, “I love Hyun Joong more than my hubby.” Feeling a little troubled over it… (laughs)

- have you mentioned that you wanted to get married early…?
I thought of getting married when I’m 30yrs old but when I really think about it and realized that this plan is out of the way…. Being a star, is to enjoy having the spotlight on own self but I still feel the pressure…. So be it either in love or married, I probably will not let anyone know about it…

Kim Hyun Joong talks about his forthcoming album

Q1: What kind of album you have in mind? ( to be released in summer?)

A : Now in the process of selecting songs from the candidates. I have not yet decided the contents. I received roughly 300 candidate songs. I will select 5~6 songs till the end of December.

Q2: Any tips for Japanese fans who are anxiously awaiting your album ?

A : Well, the dance numbers are focused. I would like to write some lyrics by myself, though I still wonder I can compose a song or not. I will include a Japanese version as well. The album will have a variety, a China version, Taiwan version, to be addressed to the Asia. As I will upgrade performance as well as vocal, I would like to promote showcase activities. I will do my best so that I will be able to have a promotional showcase in Japan.

Q3 : You previously talked that you were composing songs by playing a guitar, or piano in your private studio at home. How about your recent music activities?

A : As I am too much occupied that I cannot have such a private time. In order to prepare for my solo album, I would like to have a dance lesson first. For that purpose, a famous dancer is coming from NY , who choreographed for Usher Raymond IV(R&B singer), Justine Timberlake, and Ne-Yo. I will take a private dance lesson from him.

Q4: Wow, we can expect a genuine dance performance !

A : Yes, please look forward to seeing it. Therefore, I would like to challenge to guitar, or composing songs after I upgrade my dance performance to the level I feel satisfied.

Q5: Recently, Kpop is getting more and more popular. How do you feel about it?

A: I am very happy that many Korean activists are active in Japan, getting high reputation now. Though the center of the popular artists are now boys group as well as girls groups, I would like to make my best efforts by myself so that I can prove that Korean solo artists are fantastic.

Q6: Wow, it increases our expection !What kind of music, do you aim?

A: The music I would like to aim is “ performance music “ . With fusion of music, dance, and a beautiful video art, I would like to show audiovisual performance which stimulates sense of vision and hearing.

Q7: What kind of film or audiovisual, do you like the best?

A: First of all, I like SF. Among recent films, I like “Transformer” and “Avatar” .
I am interested in that kind of vision.

Q8: Do you think of creating something, reflecting such SF-like audiovisual into your MV?

A: Yes, that is right ! My MV will be something new and very unique one, being inspired by those creations. I have something in my mind now. When you have my next album in your hand, you will understand, “ This is what Hyun Joong wanted to realize !”

Q9: From now on, you are going to expand your activities to Japan, China, Taiwan and so on, to the global world. What you would like to achieve in Asia?

A: I would like to have a big charity event with all the fans from Asia at one spot.

Reporter: You had your 1st Solo Japan Presscon during autumn last year. Are you nervous during that time?

JM: Due to that it is the 1st presscon, I was a little nervous. But it was only a while, when i start to let go of the tension and happily proceed on with the presscon.

Reporter: What is it that you have learn?

JM: President Roy from the firm was there too thus I have learn how to communicate and interact.

Reporter: Your language skills are improving. In actual fact, you have been to many countries and collaborate with the people in China and Japan. When facing new people, dont you fear? What is the secret for being loved by people?

JM: The secret is having honest heart to heart communication. Interpersonal relationships has nothing to do with age gap as long as you open your heart to others, others will do the same to you.

Reporter: I can totally get what you feel. So being an excellent singer, what is the thing u need to do?

JM: Put your heart and soul to sing. You have to pay attention to the melody as well as the lyrics and then put your heart in to sing.

Reporter: So this is why your songs can be in people's mind for so long. Recently, you have been writing lyrics, is there any specific time or place to do it?

JM: Normally I would lie on the bed, listen to the melody repeatedly while doing my lyrics composing. Or when alone in the car, when finding/ myself.

Reporter: When does your lyrics creativity flows in?

JM: When I am staring into space.

Reporter: It was then your creativity start flowing in. Can tell us a little of your preparation in Dec with regards to your new solo album "Not Alone", what kind of style is that?

JM: "Not Alone" is a song saying "I am not alone, you are also not alone" as a theme for the song. Together with the MV, the theme and dance will give the impression of a military style. Then "Do You Know" is a soft rock song telling of a conversation of reuniting couples. "Everyday is Christmas" is a bossa nova christmas song.

Reporter: In every song, we can see your varying emotions. Thus, during recording are there any difficulties or anything that leave a deep impression?

JM: When recording "NOT ALONE", the most difficult part is the discussion of the melody and the composing of lyrics. Especially the songs "Do You Know" and "EveryDay is Christmas" there are lots of differences of ideas in the lyrics thus we wasted lot of time there. But I am happy that I can project my thinking into this recoding.

Reporter: Next I would like to talk about the song "Not Alone". With this topic, can you tell us the relationship between your colleagues, friends and fans and their support towards you.

JM: The crew and cast from the Japanese Musical "Bonds Of Boys" and all the workers in the Japan firms were very nice and warmth towards me.

Reporter: Wow, they are really very nice people indeed! From the song "Do You Know", can tell us what kind of person Park Jung Min really is?

JM: A very gentle person who will not get angry with ladies.

Reporter: I am really admire your forgiving heart. "Everyday is Christmas" song is trying to tell that you are trying to have what kind of Christmas party?

JM: It is the kind of party where we can chat, the type where "as long as it is fun it's ok" kind of feel.

Reporter: Great! So if you have a girlfriend, what kind of Christmas present would you be giving her?

JM: If giving to a girlfriend, I will choose necklace. I love the feeling of her choosing a suitable present for herself.

Reporter: I really feel as if I have known you a lot more. So as a singer, what other things you would like to challenge or try?

JM: I have already did a Dec fanmeeting smoothly with my band. Next I would like to try to have a chance to collaborate with orchestra or dancers to explore new music.

Reporter: We shall wait and see. Next, what you do want to tell the reader?

JM: See all of you during Feb Valentine's Day event!

Kim HyunJoong Traveled To Spain

On April Mop, 2010, Kim HyunJoong made a joke on his website, "I will travel to Spain and never comeback." Kim HyunJoong fans got confused with that. Lee Joong said he will go with Kim HyunJoong. We feel like that happened just yesterday. Few months later Kim HyunJoong cameback with his photobook that shot in Spain. These are some notes about his book and his latest news.

At first, Kim HyunJoong is the leader of KPop group, SS501. After starred a show called We Got Married, a producer offered him to play in a drama series. That series is Boys Before Flower (Korean version of Japanese HanaYori Dango). Because of Boys Over Flower, his name is known all over Asia. His popularity brought his group SS501 become famous, and held Asia Tour Concert 2009-2010. Since that time, Kim HyunJoong never had time to rest. Even he didn't complain about that, but fans were very worry about his health. Moreover when fans saw tiredness in his face. Finally after got a chance to take a break, Kim HyunJoong chose to travel to Spain. He started his trip with full of enjoyment. He really enjoyed life in Spain. A free and relax normal life seem hard to get.

Football

Because Kim HyunJoong loved football, he chose travel to Spain. After gaining new experience, in happiness Kim HyunJoong said : "I'm really happy with my trip to Spain, I will write my holiday plan to travel around the world. I will ride a bicycle in Sentolini island, Greece. I will see Samba dance carnival in Brazil, see the sheeps in New Zealand, and other vacation. I hope after I finish travel around the world, my last destination is a planet. Someday I hope I can go to a planet. It must be beautiful." After this fun trip to Spain, Kim HyunJoong felt he has changed into a new person.

Because the feel of "sincerity" Kim HyunJoong more like big dog, that he thinks have more characteristic, than a cute puppy. According to Kim HyunJoong, big dog can show "love" and respect the master. This is what "sincerety" means for Kim HyunJoong.

2. The Market

A market in Kim HyunJoong's memory is not a place where his mother hold his hand. But when when he is in the market, he become a kid who wants to know about anything. "What is this??" "Hmm, smells so good! Is it a fruit?" Then he acted like a little boy, "This! I want to buy this one!"

3. Romantic

Under the sunshine in Spain, in Madrid Square, Coloseum, or Opera House, Kim HyunJoong always attract people's eyes sight. Everybody is difficult to forget his eyes.

Kim HyunJoong only needs one piece of map and his health. With the adventure side in him, Kim HyunJoong can reach every place. Even there's unplanned road or he never through this before, he always step forward with confidence

5. A Relax Day

Kim HyunJoong through a street or sit for while in a road side with relax. This day he just bring a sandwich and a thick book. He walks on a green grass and have a sun bath. He dream a cloud will be his pillow and the sky will be his blanket.

6. Holiday

Ready, Action! book consists of 208 pages Kim HyunJoong exclusive pictures that having a vacation in Spain. There are also 2 dvd about the whole vacation. Since the book released, it already sold for thousands copies in Japan.

4. Adventure

"I Only Keep 40 Numbers In My Phone Book"

In 1 interview with Sports Chosun, Kim HyunJoong was asked how many celebrities he close with him, and he answered : "I really don't have many celebrity friends. People whom I most spending my time with are not celebrity. I only have 40 phone numbers kept in my phonebook, because I love to remembering numbers"

"I become close with Junsu and Jaejoong because we make our debut almost at the same time. They are members of our celebrity football team, also with Lee Wan, Kim Bum, and Micky Yoochun. Wan hyung now is doing military service so we can't meet to play, but I meet with the rests at 2pm to play. We don't have any position or numbers, we just running around together, chasing the ball. One day, Junsu suggested we made uniform with our own number at the back. I said I want to be "Root3" and he told me to shut up.", Kim HyunJoong said about Junsu.

"I don't see him often but he is a friend to drink with that makes me run out from the house to drink with him. He always sincere to me, that's why I like him. I can't see him when he shoot Sungkyunkwan Scandal because I was shooting Playful Kiss, but then I watch the drama and feel it is a good drama.", Kim HyunJoong said about Yoochun.

About Gummy, Kim HyunJoong said "She is a very close noona that even makes friend with my mother. Few times ago her parent open a restaurant in Bundang, so I went there and drink soju alone."

About SS501, Kim HyunJoong said "We will released an album next year. They are dongsaengs that will always be with me for the rest of my life. Moments agao, Kim Hyung Jun said I ignore his text message in a press conference for his musical theater. That time I was in China and I phone battery was dead, so I can't checked his message. Now whenever I go outside the country, I make sure I bring one extra charger."

"As a singer, my dream is hold a free concert in big scale and invite all my fans. I have to do it one day later. Meanwhile for my acting dream, I wan to be the most anticipated actor in the future."

Boys Before Flowers Image

Kim HyunJoong name can't be parted from Yoon Ji Hoo character in Boys Before Flower drama. With handsome face and attractive smile, his character in the drama steal the heart of female audiences. Even, JiHoo's popularity bring him the chance to play as Baek Seung Jo in Playful Kiss drama.

Seung Jo and Ji Hoo's character don't have big difference. That's why Pretty Boy image or handsome man always close to Kim HyunJoong. But as an actor, he surely want to try new role that have big differences from his roles before.

"People look at me and always think that my image is pretty boy. Because I'm a new comer actor, I think they just give me a role that suits on my physical look. I'm sure I can play another role in the future."

Beside close with handsome man image, Kim HyunJoong is also called as second Bae Yong Jun. He just joined the Winter Sonata actor's company, KeyEast Entertainment. "People said my smile and the way I dress looks like him. I must be look like him in some ways they said. I really don't know. Everytime I meet hyung, we can talk about acting and life comfortably. We can meet too often because he's busy."

Then, what about his personal dream? "I want to meet alien and go to the space. If alien come to me now and they want to do research with my body, I will go with them.", he said in laugh. Beside go the other space, Kim HyunJoong admit wants to go to the south pole after he can visit north pole.

If he has to chose between Baek Seung Jo and Yoon Ji Hoo, he answer straight "Absolutely Ji Hoo. Seung Jo is clever but he's poor. If I were JiHoo, I'll be rich enough to go to the other space."

Still Meet With Boys Before Flower ActorsFirst drama Kim HyunJoong starred is Boys Over Flower, give him a deep memory. Kim HyunJoong said he wants to reunite with the actors in the next 10 years. "10 years from now, I want to shoot special event with Boys Over Flower stars. We will gather all Boys Over Flowers players and see how big our development. It will be fun if we can record it."

Boys Over Flowers is Kim HyunJoong first drama. Aired from January to March, 2009, produced by KBS 2TV, succeed with high rating, more than 30%. Beside Kim HyunJoong, Boys Over Flowers also fame Lee Min Ho, Kim Bum, and Kim Joon.

Even busy with personal schedule, Kim HyunJoong said he still can meet Boys Over Flowers stars. "I still meet them, and sometimes the main actress, Koo Hye Sun noona also join us."

Solo Album 

After finishing Playful Kiss, Kim HyunJoong back to the studio to prepare his solo album. Now, he confess preparing his comeback with releasing his solo album. He never forget his dream to be a singer. "I never give up to be a singer, that's why I prepare my solo album. I will released it in a middle of 2011 and I have received 200 songs. From those 200 songs, I will choose 5 songs. We will see how the album will be when it releases."

With schedule that never stop, Kim HyunJoong is very busy. But he never complained. "I feel more happy that tired. I can do things that I like. I don't just follow what people say. I'm planning my future and reach certain things. I like planning something, I always planning something."

Kim HyunJoong looks more happier after joined KeyEast Entertainment. Then, is he never felt freedom like that when still joining DSP Entertainment? "Everything is different. That time, I used to do things that people asked me to because I was in a group. Being in a group and doing solo carrier is different.", he answer.

SS501 Release Album? 

Kim HyunJoong again ensure that his group SS501 won't be disband like people said. "With the members move to different companies, many people asked if SS501 will be disband or not. We just move to different agencies and we promised one to another that we will work together again as a group under SS501's name. When our contract ended with DSP Entertainment, there was no management want to accept all 5 of us. That's why we join to different agencies."

Each SS501 member has their own talent, especially Kim HyunJoong who is famous all over Asia. But that doesn't mean, there's no future for SS501. Kim HyunJoong said, his group will be still exist in Korean entertainment world. Different schedule is the main problem for them to perform as SS501. Because each company has their own schedule.

"For now, all of us focus on our solo album. But, we still have plan to comeback as SS501. Because we are in different companies, difficult for us to arrange the schedules, but we will do that thing."

After moved to KeyEast, Kim HyunJoong still communicate with his members. "I still communicate with SS501 members. They are busy so we can't meet too often, but we are not disband. We are still together whenever we want to. Actually, I really don't know who start the rumor that SS501 will release the album next year (2011). If so, oi want my solo album to be released first (laugh)."

After joining Bae Young Jun management, the called second Bae Young Jun appeared. Even that name make Kim HyunJoong honored, but he still want to be the Kim HyunJoong himself. Personally, Kim HyunJoong and CEO Bae is a close friend. They often meet 2-3 times a week. They talk about all things, including romance life. From that relationship, Kim HyunJoong said learn a lot of things to socialize.

Only Actor

Even has starred 2 dramas, Kim HyunJoong still doesnt think he's an actor. If compared to his career in acting, Kim HyunJoong feels more confident to call as a singer. Kim HyunJoong career is started as a singer. When start as an actor, Kim HyunJoong sometimes feels scared. He worries that the character he played is not good enough. But he realizes that positive attitude will make him as the real actor.

In Playful Kiss, Kim HyunJoong played as a high school student named Baek Seung Jo, whose IQ reach 200. This genius character makes him often said sentences that hard to understand. Kim HyunJoong feel a little confuse with the character. He must remember some dialogues in short times. "In my dialogues, there are many phrases that I don't understand. I have to explain those phrases like an expert. Many things I have to learn. I like coming back to my high school time." Even spending many times in learning the dialogues, Kim HyunJoong still can find happiness.

After Kim HyunJoong received a role at Playful Kiss, almost everybody compare him to the previous actor played the same character. They were curious if the character suitable for Kim HyunJoong or not. Kim HyunJoong said both Boys Over Flower and Playful Kiss are from comics, that's why not similar with the real him.

Playing as a high school student, evryday Kim HyunJoong must take care of his appearance. He shaved his mustache every morning. At the beginning he wants to remove his mustache with laser, but he cancel that plan. Kim HyunJoong said someday he wants to play as an adult man with mustache. If the time comes, he wish everybody can accept him.

Only Kiss

Before start shooting, Kim HyunJoong ever kiss the main actress, Jung So Min. For the shooting of promotion poster, director asked them to do kissing scene. They both feel very awkward. Kim HyunJoong call it a mischievous kiss. He said to SoMin "Even we kiss, we don't have any feeling. Are you okay with that?" This question makes SoMin confuse.

So many people watch Playful Kiss via online in the internet make Group Eight together with YouTube to make 7 special addition episodes of Playful Kiss. From data that Anna announces in CNN interview, the 5 episodes reach 3.5 million audiences from outside Korea.

When being interviewed, Kim HyunJoong also surprised with the big amount of the audiences. "Through YouTube, people from Europe, USA, and other countries that I never imagine before, can watch Playful Kiss.
